Manisha Karn - AIR 8 CA Final Nov 2015 - Kolkata, West Bengal
Manisha Karn

I am among those who enjoy life amidst all pressure. I devote time to friends and family as well. I am not the kind of person who studies all day long but when I do, I study with full concentration. My family has always been very supportive in whatever I wanted to do. CA has been there in my mind even before I joined the commerce field. I have drawn this aspiration from my dad who has worked in this field for years.

My first reaction

In a moment I was on cloud nine. Though I was expecting a rank, seeing this happen was something I can’t even describe in words. The entire credit goes to my family who has always been very very supportive and my teachers who have guided me since my very childhood. They have brought me where I am today. And of course, the biggest thanks to God for everything that I am today.

I have done my articleship from N.K Daga & Associates. My principal has always been supportive. Practical exposure definitely makes your concepts more clear and helps you understand things better.

I took tuitions for 5 practical subjects. For the other 3, I did self study. I started preparing well in advance. I was very regular in tuitions. However, I believe to take tuitions or not is a matter of personal choice. Tutors give a good understanding of the subject but if you take tuitions you should attend them sincerely otherwise it will be a waste of time and money.

A. Study schedule
I started preparing from April. Initially since I had office my study hours were limited to 3-4 hours a day. After I took study leave I used to study 7-8 hours a day effectively.

B. Strong and weak subjects (How did I prepared them?)
Accounts, sfm and cost were my strong points and I practised them well. Audit and ISCA were my weakpoints. To overcome it, I studied them conceptually rather than simply theoretically. Three times revision for each subject was my target.

Books and e-sources

I would suggest Munish Bhandari’s textbook for law, Pankaj Garg for Audit, Bangar’s main book for IDT and Mukesh Saraf along with Sanjay Khemka sir’s recording for ISCA.

Mock tests

I did not have the time to appear for any mock test. And frankly, even if I had the time I would not have appeared. It is better to prepare at home rather than appear for mock tests.

Rank and preparation

Yes I was preparing with an aim to secure a rank in CA final. I had planned everything in advance and stuck to my plans.

Future Plans

I want to become a part of the corporate world and enhance my professional skills and gain expertise in whatever field I work.

ICAI Campus

Well presently I am only keeping myself updated with recent changes.

Advice to fellow students

My only advice is believe in yourself. If any one can do it, then why can’t you. Trust yourself, study effectively and keep everything planned well in advance. My best wishes with all my friends.
