Rank: 38, Batch: Nov 2015
Entering CA was an obvious choice for me as I could not get guidance from my parents in any other field. Also commerce interests me more.
My first reaction
On the day when results were declared, there were some technical glitch in the website which took almost 2 hrs for the result to open up. I just checked my result and closed the computer. I was informed about my rank by a friend of mine. I did not even care to check rank (as it has a separate link) once I saw that I has passed the exams.
The credit goes definitely to my parents and my sister for their support during my preparation time.
I did articleship from T.R.Chadha & Co. Yes it definitely helps.
If we join a coaching institute, the main advantage is that we get a proper direction in terms of from where to study, what to study, focus areas etc. But self study is equally important.
A. Study schedule:
Plan your timelines in a such a way so that you get time for at least 2 revisions before exams. There is no limit of how many hours to put in per day. Study for max time as much as your health allows you.
B. Strong and weak subjects (How did I prepared them?)
There are no strong and weak subjects. All sub are of 100 marks and therefore equally important. Although I had faced difficulty with ISCA to which I devoted time and did about 4 revisions and secured highest in it (82 marks).
Books and eSources
Stick to Practice manuals and the teaching material you studied initially (if you are taking classes). In the one day leave just do practice manuals, RTP, mock test (present on ICAI website). Refer teaching material only for concepts.
ICAI mock tests are enough. It releases 2 series before every exam. They are very helpful.
Rank and preparation
No I did not have any rank in mind. I just thought that I do not have to loose even a single mark unnecessarily.
I have started practice as I see more growth prospects in that.
I did appear in campus. I was offered by 4 companies (both on campus as well as off campus).
Advice to fellow students
Do not wait for last 4 months. Try to have complete notes and do at least 1 revision of all subs before your preparation leaves starts. Consistency in studies is the key.
