Rank: 39, Batch: Nov 2015
Place: Ranchi, Jharkhand
My first reaction
Actually I was doing my GMCS when I came to know of my result, it was a sublime feeling, its a very emotional moment too. I would surely like to give the credits to my parents, my brother, my grandparents, my principal during the articleship and most importantly to all the teachers.
I did my internship from K.C. TAK & CO., Ranchi, its one of the most reputed CA Firm in our city. I believe doing articleship seriously will help you a lot, I was lucky to have a boss who always guided me and gave me a lot of opportunities. I led various audits and it helps a lot in preparing for your examination. Just studying theory will not do you wonders, you have to have a strong knowledge of the industry.
I started preparing for the CA final examination after completing 6 months of articleship. I used to study daily for short period of time during my articleship period. I guess it depends upon person to person whether he/she will need coaching or not. If you are very meticulous and can put in a lot of efforts you can make it through with only self studies, on the other hand, if you are not able to put in hours of studies you can refer to tuition.
A. Study schedule:
During the leave for examination (i.e. 3 months before exam), I used to study for 8-10 hours maximum.
B. Strong and weak subjects (How did I prepared them?)
My strong subjects were Financial Reporting, SFM, Auditing and IDT, and weak was ISCA, I worked hard in ISCA and referred only ICAI’s module for ISCA.
Books and e-sources
I will personally refer Vinod Gupta’s book for DT and Paduka for Cost and one should also go for Board of Studies Knowledge portal for E-sources.
Personally, I didn’t had the time, I was busy completing the syllabus. But as far as I know they are very helpful.
Rank and preparation
I was not preparing for a rank, I was just focused on gaining the concepts and their practical application. Rank is something which comes itself if you do the things right.
As of now, I would surely go for the corporate world as I want to get a deep insight into the functioning of a big corporate.
I am preparing Accounting Standards, Taxation, Company Law and keeping myself updated with the Indian economy.
Advice to fellow students
My advice to all the students pursuing CA course is that give your 100% and just go for the concept, its not a curriculum where you will pass simply by mugging up. Be focused, do your articleship seriously and you will surely come out with flying colours.
