Deval Modi - Mumbai
Deval Modi

I am Deval Modi. I have completed my bachelor of commerce programme from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. My father is a portfolio manager and has his own establishment by name “Shreeji Financial Services”. My mother is a microbiologist but currently, a housewife. My parents felt I was good with numbers and they thought I would fit right in, for the Chartered Accountancy course.

My first reaction

Ecstatic. Words fall short of describing my feelings. I have never before got such love and kind wishes from people all over India. I would like to credit my success to my parents for their never ending support and belief in me.

I am currently doing my internship at Madhvi Vora and Associates. It helped my in putting what I have studied into practice. It gave me courage and confidence on how to deal with various issues and gave me an insight into the professional world.

I prepared a comprehensive timetable before hitting the study leave. Then I proceeded accordingly, following my time table diligently. I prioritized my subjects which I felt were most difficult, difficult and manageable. I had completed 2 revisions by the time I appeared for the exams.

As coaching institutes do give you a kick-start to your preparations, it is a subjective issue.

Mock tests

No, I could not appear for the mock tests as I was running out of time. Definitely writing papers in a time-bound manner and evaluating yourself where you stand gives you tremendous self-confidence and they can form a vital part for your success.

Rank and preparation

No, I was expecting to pass the exams with good marks. Getting a single digit rank was beyond my wildest of dreams. I missed rank by few marks in CPT as well as in IPCC, so getting one in the final examination has really boosted my self-confidence.

Future Plans

I am inclined to a corporate job. But I would be open to explore all possible opportunities.

ICAI Campus

Yes, I am thinking of applying for the campus interviews.

Advice to fellow students

Believe in yourself. Never lose hope.

I recently saw a movie called “Imitation Game” and would like to quote from it. “Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine”
