My first reaction
First reaction, I was immensely happy since I only saw those two pass in my results. Later on when I checked the merit list, I got to know I was AIR 26, that is when it all felt like a dream. Clearing CA with a Double Merit (I was AIR 50 in IPCC) was something I dint dream off. Talking about credits for my success, it would be my Mom Dad and Sister who’ve stood by me no matter what and my Gurus CA Abhishek Zaware and CA Sandeep Rao who’ve molded me into a better professional.
I completed my internship from M/s P G Bhagwat, Chartered Accountants a mid size firm based in Pune. The learning and experience I have had with the firm was amazing and the level of confidence which these practicals things helped me gain in my exams was just unbeatable.
CA Final is not just about studies, it is a lot more.. about your mental preparation, your ability to handle pressure, keeping your nerves etc etc. I started my coaching in the 2nd year of my internship. I could barely manage self study with office and coaching. So actual studies started in Dec 2017 where I went off on a study leave. In those last 5 months I dedicated around 13-14 hours for studies .
Joining a Coaching is a matter of self decision. I thought I wasn’t so self disciplined that I could take a book an start studying unless someone forces me too. But then managing office, it is not necessary that we’ll be able to complete coaching for all subjects. I had finally done Audit and Law on my own and had taken coaching for all other subjects.
A. Study schedule
As I’ve already mentioned, in those 5 months of study leave I had dedicated around 13-14 hours/day for studies and does is the need of the course.
B. Strong and weak subjects (How did I prepared them?)
Talking about FR preparations, I solved many many questions so that I was confident in each chapter. I knew FR was the subject which will take my score to a greater height and as planned it gave me 87 Marks to the tally.
And about ISCA, its been my nightmare and its better I don’t comment upon how I prepared for it.:P
Books and e-sources
|Subject||Books referred by me|
|Financial Reporting||MP VijayKumar AND DS Rawat for AS|
|Strategic Financial Management||SD Bala OR AN Shridhar|
|Audit||Surbhi Bansal OR Pankaj Garg|
|Costing||Institute Material and Paduka|
|Direct Tax||Vinod Gupta|
|Indirect Tax||Dippak Gupta for classes OR Bangar|
Yes I gave online mock tests. I think giving mock tests is very important to understand time management and weak areas. I would suggest everyone preparing for CA Final/Inter should necessarily give at least one mock test.
Rank and preparation
Since I was an AIR in IPCC, I knew it would not be impossible to secure a rank in CA Final but I am always of the opinion that always dream but never expect a Rank. And thus was not expecting a Rank in CA Final. But, after I saw my score I was confident that I would have surely secure a Rank.
I plan to join some good Equity Research/Investment Bank kind off company.
Advice to fellow students
Since you have started it, complete it in style. Keep your basics strong, they are going to stay with you forever. Conceptual clarity is important, mugging up is not the solutions.
