Garvit Sekfaria - AIR 32 CA Final May 2018 - Surat, Gujarat
Garvit Sekfaria

I am Garvit Seksaria from the city of Diamond, Textiles and transforming as an Education hub ie. Surat. I am a person who love challenges and always committed to my goals and this commitment helps me to attain them successfully. I am passionate for my work with utmost dedication and hardwork. My father is a businessmen indulged into textiles (trading and manufacturing) and my mother is Homemaker and a younger sister who is also into CA.

From 11th Standard when I choose Commerce I decided to choose CA as it covers almost all the fields of commerce with depth in Accounting and Finance and at the end it will help me to create more value and skill-set which in future helps me to attain my desired objectives.

My first reaction

After viewing my result I was very happy that when you heard that there are only 92 who cleared CA (New Course) in first attempt and I was one among them with All India Rank so it was a great achievement.

For the success I would like to give credit to all the people connected to me which includes my parents, tutor, mentor and my friends because they were all with me in some or other way supporting me for this accomplishment.

I have done my articleship from Pradeep K Singhi & Associates and Rathi & Tulshyan and in the period of these 3 years I had an exposure of practical learning and which helps me to understand the concepts with practical scenario so which makes the learning more interesting and at the end we can develop our skill set with other learnings too which includes leadership, team work, professionalism etc.

I took coaching under CCM CA Jay Chhaira Sir and yes guidance is necessary because one may clear CA by self study too but for utmost clarity and to learn things in a proper way a proper guidance is must.

A. Study schedule

After studies of 2 years ICAI launched the new refined version of curriculum with all new topics including (IFRS, IndAs, Elective subjects) in July’2018 and I decided to go for it, as my aim was not to get degree only but to be updated with all new standards and updates in a revised New Course. As there was not much time left for the exam I sorted out the subjects based on the SWOT analysis and focused on one subject at a time with adequate revision for a whole course.

My Strategy was to complete one subject at a time with all efforts and with utmost clarity as not much time was left for the exam. I used to study 8-10 hours as only 6-7 months were only there to prepare for New Course and need to complete all the training before exams.

B. Strong and weak subjects (How did I prepared them?)

Practical subjects are my strength and theoretical subjects were my weakness and hence I focused more on my weakness to clear swiftly as I was more confident on the practical aspects.

Books and e-sources

If one reads the institute material there is no need to refer any other reference books , as new modules of institute were so good as it includes all the topics with full coverage and with examples for better understanding. So, no need to refer any other books and esources.

Mock tests

Yes, I have given Mock Test conducted by ICAI and I do consider them important for the success as it helps in the overall evaluation of your preparation and creates a same exam environment so helps to perform better in exams.

Rank and preparation

NO, I was not preparing for the rank, my aim was to do my best and wanted to perform better because as many of my colleagues and others were like new course is a challenge and it’s a risk you should not take but I took it as a opportunity and this helped me to perform my best.

Future Plans

I want to enter in a corporate world with the objective to excel as a professional by working in a dynamic and challenging environment and to use proven skills in a position that can significantly contribute towards achieving strategic organizational objectives.

ICAI Campus

Campus is an opportunity for us as it is a great step by ICAI where each student can look forward to various companies under one roof.
I am refreshing the concepts and updating myself with recent amendments and current affairs to grab the opportunities.

Advice to fellow students

My advice for all the students pursuing CA or any professional Course is to be confident that “yes you can achieve” and commitment towards your goals both hardwork and dedication unless you decide to fail there is no one who can stop you to attain success. Do SWOT analysis make proper schedules and don’t pressurize yourself and manage time properly and at the end you will attain your goals.
