Rank: 39, Batch: May 2016
Place: Kakra, Rajasthan
About my family, I live in a joint family. My father is a business man owning a restaurant in Nokha. My mother is a home maker and she is my role model. My sister is currently pursuing B.com. I entered into this field because CA is the only prestigious profession in commerce wherein we get the knowledge of all the fields right from Accounts to Taxation and Costing to Finance.
My first reaction
To be very frank, I was worried just before the day of result, whether I will clear or not. I also had conversation with some of my friend about that. Then on the day of result I was checking result from morning 11:00 AM and suddenly around 01:05 PM the result link opened. I was shivering while entering my Roll no. Then as soon as the page opened I just had a look on the last part i.e. PASS then I just saw my total marks, I dint even checked the merit list. Then the first call, I did, to my mother and received a call from my cousin and he said I have secured AIR 39. Now my phone was flooded with calls & messages. That moment had flabbergasted me.
The credit of this achievement goes to my Family, Mentors and Friends cum brothers Akash laddha, Pawan lahoty and Pratik bajaj and specially Sheetal and Pooja gattani for making my way easier to examination centre.
I did my internship from R N Kothari and Associates. The reason why I chose this midsize firm was that I get the opportunity to work in all practical fields which the firm was having. The practical exposure which I gained in firm had helped me in preparation of exams from the criticality of taxation to the simplicity of audits and from crispiness of finance to tedious compliance of corporate affairs.
For the preparation of CA Final, it took a lot of hard work, dedication and effective & efficient time management. I have started my coaching from November 2014 for practical subjects. I have given sincerely last five and half months for CA final preparation after taking leave from internship. The thing which helped me most was making notes of ALL the subjects whether it was theory subject or a practical one, I have prepared notes for all the 8 subjects.
In my opinion, not all the subjects will require coaching and I think it’s better to take coaching of only practical subjects wherein teachers guide the different ways of solving the same problem.
A. Study schedule
I studied initially from 4-5 hours a day to ultimately 13-14 hours a day. During my coaching time I had made sure that I have done my homework given in coaching. I am the type of person who can’t study continuously, so during last 6 months, I had allotted my 10% of time for making strategies and study schedule like what I have to do in next 10-15 days and constantly updating it in almost daily so that I get a break of 10 minutes and then again back to study for 2-3 hours. Also, I can’t study any particular subject for a long period so I had divided my study time in 4-5 segments and in each segment I studied a different subject. I had studied 4-5 subjects on any given day.
B. Strong and Weak subjects (How did I prepare them?)
Strong subjects: Tax & Accounts
Weak subjects: Audit & ISCA
Being a Hindi medium student theory was my weakness so I did not give more time in my strong subjects as my strategy was to strengthen my weakness. I had allotted almost 50% of my entire study time in Audit and ISCA to strengthen them. Especially in last 3 months I have allotted 2 hours a day each for Audit and ISCA. I have never prepared to score too high in any subject. My aim was always to achieve equal in all the subjects.

I didn’t attend any mock test. The first thing is to complete the syllabus and revise it at least twice and if after that you have any time then you may surely go for mock test or even can solve it at home by downloading it from ICAI’s website. It certainly gives a evaluation of how much of time we are taking to solve and presentation of answers in most effective manner.
Rank and preparation
No, I have never studied to get a Rank but yes I had one thing clear in my mind that I have to clear CA in First Attempt. So I had always targeted 60 marks in all the subjects.
My plans right now are to enter into the corporate world preferably in the job profile of taxation.
For ICAI campus, I am currently following news, recent developments in taxation and IND-AS. Also I am studying the GST in depth. Apart from this I am also working on strengthening my soft skills.
Advice to fellow students
At this level I don’t think any person will require the study tips or something like advice on that as all peoples have their unique way of studying, so what I can share is an incident of CA Final – Paper 1 Exam day. I have reached to another examination centre. From then I rushed to my actual centre and in the mean time I have lost my calculator and 20 minutes out of total 3:15 hours. When I have reached my actual center I was shivering and was barely able to write at all in first 30-40 minutes of exam, but in my mind I was very clear that what happens at all but I will give the exam and will fight with this situation and fortunately I made it with an All India Rank.
So I would like to say one thing that there will be various ups and downs in the preparation of exams rather not only in exams but in life as well, but never lose hope and always give your best. The success is bound to follow you.
Thanks for reading and All the Best for your future.
