Paritosh Bhandari - AIR 38 CA Final May 2016 - Mumbai, Maharashtra
Paritosh Bhandari

I come from a family of CA’s, CS’s, ICWA’s and CISA’s. So you know I have an over-educated family. I started CA just like everyone did, giving CPT after 12th class.

My first reaction

I didn’t even realise I had got a rank. My friend called me up and told me to check the Merit List and then I realised that I had got a rank.

Articleship

I did my articleship from Anil Ashok & Associates. I think the concepts learned during articleship definitely help in exams be it Taxation or Financial Reporting.

Preparation

I started studying from December for CA final. I would say classes for practical subjects would be necessary as they help you with concepts.

Strategies

A. Study schedule
I stay opposite RVG Hostel in Mumbai so I used to study there. My schedule was from 7am to 11pm from Jan to May.

B. Strong and Weak subjects (How did I prepared them?)
My weak subjects were Audit and Law and I guess I just tried to learn the answers in Audit exactly as it was written in PM. Whereas for Law I revised it a few times.

Books and e-sources

  • Tax – Vinod Gupta
  • IDT – Bangar
  • Law – Munish Bhandari

Mock tests

I attended Mock tests but just to gauge my speed and paper completion, nothing else.

Rank and preparation

Prepartion for a rank in CA final? Definitely not, though my friends seem to think otherwise.

Future Plans

I would like to work in the corporate world for a while but I want to start practising CA in future.

Advice to fellow students

Advice to CA students would be – Don’t lose hope while studying. Have self confidence, grit and determination. Study everything and don’t take shortcuts.
